Sure thing. Let’s dive into this whirlpool of thoughts, shall we?

Okay, so I was reading about Final Fantasy 16 – don’t ask why, just nerding out a bit, I guess – and there’s this whole thing about it maybe coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Naoki Yoshida, the producer, and Kazutoyo Maehiro, the creative director, kinda hinted at it. And you know, it’s like that moment when you’re eyeing the last cookie, thinking, “Should I? Nah, maybe not,” but then just grabbing it anyway. Anyway, Yoshida was all, “It’s on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, so why not chuck it onto Nintendo?”
Straight after the game dropped in 2023 on the PS5, it slid over to PC in 2024. Like, who even keeps track anymore? Oh, and then – ha, this is wild – Xbox suddenly got it after this Xbox Games Showcase thingy on June 8. It was struggling a bit at first, but then whoosh! – up it went on the Xbox charts. Like a cat that usually knocks stuff off the table but decides to nap on your laptop instead. You get me?
So, everyone’s buzzing about maybe, one day, the game could be on Switch 2. Yeah, that’s right! I can just imagine Maehiro being like, “Let’s conquer this beast,” or something. The guy’s got ambition, give him that. Switch 2’s all like, “I got backward compatibility, folks,” letting us play everything from the old console, Final Fantasy-wise. But wow, sometimes those third-party games try hardcore to be cool but end up face-planting. Except Cyberpunk 2077 did okay, didn’t trip too bad.
They say Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is gonna be their next single-player gig for the Switch 2. But hey — and I might be rambling — rumors are rumors, you know? So, let’s see if they manage to sneak Final Fantasy 16 onto the Switch 2. Time might be the ultimate decider. Or maybe it won’t. Who even knows at this point?
