Okay, so Friday, June 6 is shaping up to be quite the spectacle for all you Dying Light aficionados out there. Techland’s finally dropping the release date for “Dying Light: The Beast” along with, wait for it, a gameplay trailer. These tidbits all spill out as part of the Summer Game Fest, which is already pretty packed, but hey, more zombie parkour, right?
Now, here’s where it gets kinda wild. This whole thing started as just some DLC for Dying Light 2. Yeah, like, remember those leaks in 2023? I guess they decided to go big or go home because boom, it’s its own game now. Shorter than its elders, mind you, but still, a complete package.
Now I’m jumping timelines here, but bear with me. Back in 2022, Dying Light 2 came out, and it was a hit. But folks were like, “Where’s Kyle Crane?” Instead, we got Aiden Caldwell, this Pilgrim dude skipping between outposts delivering stuff. Aiden had his fans and all, but people were thirsty for Crane, hence the tweak from DLC to standalone with The Beast.
So, August 2024 rolls around, and Techland confirms—spoilers?—yes, Crane’s back. But fans were still hungry, eyeing for more details. So, this June 6 event is about to scratch that itch. Geoff Keighley, the guy who could tease a rock and get us hyped, dropped a tiny teaser promising gameplay and a release date reveal. They’re aiming for a Summer 2025 launch across a bunch of platforms. Fingers crossed!
Price? Oh man, no news there yet. But, if you snagged the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2, you’re in luck! You get The Beast for free. Maybe you saw that coming, maybe not, but either way, it’s a neat win for those who jumped on it early. Everyone else? Full price. Sorry, folks.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, or rather Techland HQ, they’re juggling this release and updates for Dying Light 2. There’s a Halloween thing, some big autumn upgrades, winter festivities—you name it. Not to mention, they’re cooking up new toys for players, like weapon classes, freebie outfits, spruced-up maps, all that jazz.
And, oh, before I forget, the game’s stamped ‘M for Mature.’ So, expect the usual bloody chaos—multiplayer hijinks too. Might be worth starting fresh with Dying Light and see where it takes you by 2025. Zombies and all. Sorta feels like a good time for a revisit, right?
Anyway, brace yourselves for more undead adventures. This summer’s gonna be lit.
