Okay, so there’s this thing happening with Bandai Namco. They threw this prologue trailer at us for some game called Towa and The Guardians of The Sacred Tree. It’s being cooked up for the Nintendo Switch. Honestly, not sure how I feel about trailers – they always make things seem cooler than they probably are.
Anyway, there’s this dev team, Brownies or something, doing their thing with a 2D isometric roguelite. Imagine peaceful Shinju village, then bam! Evil dude named Magatsu wants to take over. Classic story, right? But here’s the kicker – Towa, who’s like this priestess, grabs her eight buddies to mix it up with Magatsu and co. Cool squad goals.
They’re saying the game’s packed with fast-paced action. I mean, I’m all for it if it actually delivers. And the whole hand-drawn characters bit? Apparently stunning, with scenery that belongs in an art gallery. The soundtrack’s by this legend, Hitoshi Sakimoto. Sounds impressive, but we’ll see if it hits the right notes.
So when you’re diving into the game, you pick two Guardians. One’s got this sacred sword, Tsurugi – epic name if you ask me – and the other’s waving around a magical staff called Kagura. Unique skills for each, which you can apparently beef up as you go. Both in dungeons and back in Shinju Village’s hub world. Kind of a meta-progress thing going on.
Collect crafting materials to upgrade swords or something. It’s like an RPG mixed with time travel because the village evolves over the years. Think of it as growing with you? And somehow, you become pals with the locals, learning their stories, customs – you know, small-town vibes.
Oh, and mark your calendars if you need to – it’s hitting the Nintendo eShop on September 19, 2025. Worldwide.
That’s about it. The trailer’s supposed to be a big deal too, but visuals don’t do their job if the gameplay’s flat. Crossing fingers here!
