Sure thing, let’s give this a whirl.

So, here’s a thing with FromSoftware games — there’s always this ritual at the start where you gotta pick your class. Like picking a Hogwarts house, but with swords and spells. You’d get a whole buffet of choices with armor and fancy gear. And, I’ll admit, it’s kinda fun figuring out if you wanna be a big burly warrior or, y’know, some sneaky spell-caster. But Elden Ring Nightreign? Oh, it went rogue. No traditional classes here. Nope, they’ve got these full-on characters. Yeah, characters with their own backstories and all that jazz.
And here’s where it gets kinda cool: you’ve got eight, count ’em, eight different heroes to choose from. Each one like, has its own vibe and special skills. And okay, sure, you can tweak them with new gear that you find. But mostly, they stay true to their form. Which, can we just take a moment to appreciate that? Each character feels like its own mini-novel, complete with quirks and… what’s the word? Gravitas. Yeah, that.
Oh, heads up! There’s this one tiny feature that’s pure genius and honestly, FromSoftware should just slap it on everything from here on out. Just sayin’.

Alright, let’s talk about animation. You wouldn’t think dodge rolls could say much, right? But here, it’s like a dance – tells you who the character is. I mean, Wylder, Ironeye, and Executor, they’ve nailed that nimble roll thing. It’s fast, it’s sleek, almost like they’re dodging through life itself. Then there’s Raider – similar moves but it’s like he’s got an invisible backpack weighing him down. Like, come on, dude, drop the bricks!
And the Guardian, ah man, this guy’s movement is a story on its own. Dips under attacks with this side-step, shield ready. Real disciplined-like. On the flip side? You’ve got Recluse floating around like she’s in a dream. Straight-up magic-style, y’know. And don’t even get me started on the Duchess — fast doesn’t cut it. She moves like she’s got a point to prove, and if you’re lucky, you might catch her doing a little backflip. Just because she can.
Side note: I have this feeling the Duchess might be taking some cues from Bloodborne’s Hunter. Could just be me, but it fits, right?
Anyway, back to the real talk. These animations aren’t just fluff. They build out who these characters are — really let you FEEL their essence. It’s these tiny details, like, blink and you miss it, but when you catch it? Just makes you nod in appreciation, y’know?
And if FromSoftware was smart (which they are, let’s be real), they’d keep this unique animation spice in whatever they cook up next. Balance might be tricky, sure, but isn’t it worth trying? Just to see if magic can strike twice? I’d say so.
Anyway, where was I? Oh right, the art — seriously, have you seen it? I could stare at this stuff for ages. But enough rambling. Until next time, game on folks!
