Man, where do I even start with this whole Pokemon TCG Pocket thing? So, like, Eevee Grove just dropped a couple of weeks ago, right? Eighth set or something like that. And it’s kinda wild ’cause the meta’s still trying to figure out what’s cool or not. People are testing all sorts of strategies, throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks during these online tourneys. But here’s a kicker: word on the street is there’s already another expansion set to launch by end of July. Seriously, these things just keep coming.
Now, for collectors out there, each set’s got its own thing going on. But if you’re into deckbuilding, well, not so much. Some expansions just don’t hit the mark for building killer decks.
Anyway — wait, no — where was I? Oh yeah, let’s chat about some top-tier expansions.
Celestial Guardians, man, this set was a game-changer in its own right with that Rare Candy introduction. It’s like turbocharging Stage 2 Pokémon. And then you’ve got cards like Incineroar Ex and Solgaleo Ex doing their thing. Heck, even Turtonator and Kiawe are holding their own. You toss in some other cards like Poison Barb, Leaf Cape, and Lillie — suddenly, you’re cooking with gas. But there’s this Safeguard Oricorio card that’s both awesome and just a bit of a headache. Those rare finds, though, make it all worth the chase.
Alright, next up is the A-tier stuff. Space-Time Smackdown? It’s still rolling strong in meta decks. Some cards pop in and out, I guess, depending on the mood of the universe. I mean, look at Infernape EX. One day it’s in, the next day out, old drama style. Then you’ve got Triumphant Light with its pocket-sized lineup. It’s easier to collect, but those cards like Snorlax and Garchomp Ex hold their value like they’re going out of style.
Extradimensional Crisis gives off these Shining Revelry vibes. It’s like they made a set that just took care of itself from launch. Buzzwole Ex, Lusamine, and the whole gang make it easy to snag since there are only 69 (nice) cards at the core. But Eevee Grove kinda messed with some strategies, not gonna lie.
Jumping into B-tier lands us smack in the middle of Genetic Apex. This one’s for the nostalgics, yeah? Reminds me of the Gen 1 days. But other than a few nifty cards like Mewtwo Ex and some trainers, it’s not really setting the world on fire.
Shining Revelry — smaller, shiny, a bit meh for competitive decks. Don’t get me wrong, Charizard Ex is still a beast. But others, well, they don’t quite light up the room like Iono or Red. Then there’s Eevee Grove, trying to be everybody’s best friend but missing the mark a bit. Some gems like Sylveon Ex and Flareon Ex are solid, but the rest? All over the shop, honestly.
And at rock bottom, we’ve got Mythical Island. Think of it as the underdog expansion, small but mighty. Except, turns out most of the cards have been power-crunched out of relevance. Leaf and Mew Ex are like distant whispers of past glory.
So yeah, there’s a lot going on in the Pokemon TCG universe. Some expansions hit, others miss, but the ride’s what gives you those feels, right? Who knows where the next one will take us.
