Okay, so, here we go. FBC: Firebreak — yeah, that game from Remedy Entertainment (the Control people) — has got this crazy source of inspiration. You’d never guess, right? CHOMP CHOMP, it’s Overcooked. Yeah, the goofy cooking game where everything’s on fire, but like, in a fun way. Honestly, no clue why they picked that, but Mike Kayetta, the game director, had something to say about it. Makes sense in a chaotic, team-y kinda way. Anyway, FPS games and dish disasters… who knew they’d go hand in hand?
It’s still a shooter though, you know? Three players running around in a co-op mode – and no, you’re not flipping pancakes, even if that would be a ride. FBC: Firebreak is dropping on June 17, 2025. Mark it, folks! It’ll be on all the big ones: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S. Remedy’s shaking things up, so they’re snooping around other hit games for ideas.
Kayetta spilled to GameSpot. They’ve been checking out a bunch of titles — Space Marine 2, Deep Rock Galactic, and Aliens: Fireteam Elite, to name a few. But, yep, Overcooked makes you lose control, but somehow you’re still in control. It’s… hold up, meaningful chaos? Yeah, that’s what he said!
Quick note! No Left 4 Dead for them, which is nuts because it seems like a no-brainer. Kayetta’s all, “it’s in our DNA.” Whatever that means, right?
Oh! Before I forget — Helldivers 2, too. They love how Arrowhead Studios handles player chaos. It’s still TBD how Remedy smashes all that inspiration with their old tricks. Could be magic, could be madness. Either way, fun to see what’s cookin’, right?

How’s that?
