Sure thing, here’s my take:
So Bigscreen just launched this new VRChat Edition of their Beyond 2e PC VR headset. It’s supposedly for the hardcore fans of VRChat—you know, that social VR platform everyone’s been buzzing about.
Ah, I remember seeing the first Beyond 2 units ship last month—seriously, feels like yesterday. They’ve got the standard Beyond 2 and the one with eye-tracking, the Beyond 2e. But now, there’s this special VRChat Edition coming in September 2025. Mark your calendars? Or don’t. I’m notoriously bad at keeping track of dates.
Spec-wise, it’s pretty much a twin of the Beyond 2e. Eye-tracking, check. Those crisp 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays and a 116° diagonal FOV—thanks to those pancake lenses. Weighing in at 107 grams, which is, well, light as a feather or something less poetic.
Visuals—I’m talking Atomic Purple. The shell is see-through, which is a neat throwback. Remember those Game Boys? And the box art is hand-drawn. Who does that anymore? It’s a nice touch.
Quick sidebar: You’ll need a VR-ready PC. And don’t forget SteamVR base stations, controllers, maybe some trackers if you’re going full-body in VRChat. Gotta check if your setup’s up to snuff.
Oh, and it’s not just about the looks. Buying this fancy gizmo gets you VRChat stickers and badges. More digital goodies are on the horizon, they say. Fingers crossed for some super rare giveaways. Imagine snagging those!
If you’re already in line with a preorder, you can ask to switch to this edition. Just drop them an email. Meanwhile, tune into this talk with Bigscreen’s founder and the community head from VRChat. Eye-tracking apparently changes the game in ways I can’t fully wrap my head around yet.
That’s the scoop. Or at least my version of it.
