Okay, so here’s the thing—I stumble upon this game called NTE, right? It’s this free-to-play RPG that’s trying out some Containment Test thing, and it’s in closed beta. Not sure how that works exactly, but apparently, they’ve made some upgrades? Like, visuals are shinier, there’s new stuff to do, and they went wild with the combat. Seems like everyone’s trying to outdo themselves these days. But hey, no complaints here.
Picture this: you’re in Hethereau, a city with this split personality. On top, it’s all smiles and business as usual, while down below, it’s chaos and anomalies all over the place. Yeah, you heard me. Anomalies. And guess who’s supposed to deal with that mess? You, the unlicensed Anomaly Hunter. Felt like an odd job, if you ask me, but someone’s gotta do it, right?
So, this city, Hethereau—man, where do I even start? Built on Unreal Engine 5, sounds like a big deal, but I’m not a tech wizard. Anyway, they’ve pimped out the visuals and stuff, so it looks super slick now. The shadows play hide and seek with the light, and the weather throws everything at you—from foggy mystery to snowy wonderland. And snowflakes? Wow, they apparently look real enough to touch now. Not that I’ve tried. Is that even possible? Who knows.
And the characters got their own glow-up. Their clothes and hair strands are detailed like never before. Something about anime vibes, I think. Never really got into it, but it’s there if you’re into that sort of thing.
You roll with a crew of four in this mission business. Each one’s got these slick Esper Abilities; it’s all about chaining those moves together, kind of like a dance, but with, you know, more action and less rhythm. They tweaked the fighting bits, so everything feels smoother. I heard about new stuff like parry attacks—good luck with those if you’ve got my reflexes.
Oh, and there’s this whole city traversal trick with some Esper Abilities. Ever tried running up a building? In the game, you can. Or ziplining across the city, wind screaming past your ears—okay, not my thing, but it sounded cool when I heard it. Mint, from the Bureau of Anomaly Control, is there to guide you with car stuff. Apparently, ‘requisitioning’ cars is a thing now. Makes you wonder what they get up to, right?
Car mods? Yeah, the game’s got those too. Choose your colors, mix and match parts—tinkering till it feels like yours. You fancy a specific ride view? First-person, third-person, take your pick. Did I mention the whole wanted system if you mess up with the vehicles? Cops and bots are hot on your tail if you mess around too much. Just a heads up.
Then there’s racing. Street crews and multiplayer chaos, all in different city spots. Drifting is part of the fun, but rain and snow can mess with your groove. Believe me, I’ve tried driving on icy roads once—not something I’d choose to relive anytime soon.
This beta event or whatever is running until July 16. After that, they’ll tweak things based on what players think, I guess. Full game’s coming to basically everything—PC, consoles, iOS, Android. And it’s free-to-play, with some cross-progression magic. They’re all over social media, so if you want updates, just follow them around. Sounds pretty packed, huh?
