Man, where do I even start? So, there’s this game, COLD VR, right? By this crew called ALLWARE, along with Perp Games, throwing a bunch of new bells and whistles on their Superhot-inspired jam. Yeah, that one. I mean, kind of takes you back to those intense Superhot vibes but flips the whole thing upside down. Like, instead of time zooming by when you move? Nah, it’s the opposite. Your moves drag time slooooow. So, you gotta hustle before enemies swarm ya. Kinda keeps you on your toes in a totally backwards way.
This beast first popped up in February. Fast forward a bit to June 2nd, and bam! Big ol’ update drops, bringing shiny new stuff to the whole Quest and PC VR gang. Five fresh levels, anyone? Yes, please.
Oh, and check this: they’re rolling out a whole new campaign with smarter enemies. Supposedly, it’s to help things flow better. Not sure if that’s code for “we messed up before,” but hey, more content, more fun, right? Plus, those pesky Backroom levels? Totally optional now. Thank goodness because, let’s be real, I might’ve dodged some of those.
The opening scene and the Main Menu are getting revamped too. I guess that’s so you can get your game on quicker? Cool, I guess? Always find myself mashing buttons like, “C’mon, let me play already!”
Now, the ‘Sub-Zero’ biz. New ways to snatch weapons, visuals getting prettier, room-scale movement — whatever that means — and if you’re into getting your chest rumbled, they’ve got haptics for ya. And yeah, PSVR 2 version? Still on the horizon. No idea when it’s crashing the party though. Hopefully soon.
Anyway, if you’re itching to get your hands on COLD VR now, it’s chillin’ over on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and all that jazz. Or hit up Steam for your PC VR fix. Last I checked, it’s going for about 20 bucks. Not too shabby for dodging slow-mo bullets.
