Japanese speedrunner Ikaboze has already managed to reach the end credits of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
At the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Tokyo, Ikaboze took an interesting approach. Starting with an autosave just outside Hyrule Castle, he opted to drop his gear and make a beeline into the castle’s ruins. His mission? To take down Calamity Ganon and the formidable Dark Beast Ganon, two of Link’s most notorious foes.
He pulled off this impressive feat within the 20-minute demo limit—spending 5 minutes in Handheld Mode and the remaining 10 in TV Mode. It’s likely that Ikaboze is the first person to defeat Ganon in this enhanced version of the game.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition promises some exciting performance upgrades, including smoother frame rates, faster loading times, and improved graphics. It also introduces the Zelda Notes service. However, the Expansion Pass content won’t be bundled with this version.
For those who already own the game and subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, the upgrade pack for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will be included in their membership.
Mark your calendars for June 5, 2025, when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will be available both in stores and digitally on the Nintendo eShop worldwide.
